Silver Dancers 2.0

SMUKFEST 2026 featured three new Silver Dancers, expanding the installation into an even larger gathering of reflective figures across the festival grounds.

Created by Eske Touborg, the inflatable Silver Dancers are playful, oversized mirror-like sculptures that interact with the people, architecture and atmosphere surrounding them. Their reflective surfaces capture fragments of the festival environment, constantly changing with the movement of the crowd, the shifting light and the activity around them.

With their playful and expressive forms, the three new figures mirror the beauty, tranquility and festive energy of their surroundings. Rather than simply occupying the space, the Silver Dancers become part of it reflecting and transforming whatever happens around them.

The installation explores the relationship between the individual and their environment. Each Silver Dancer acts as a physical representation of our own reflective nature: how we absorb, respond to and are shaped by the places and people around us. At SMUKFEST, this idea becomes particularly tangible as the sculptures reflect thousands of festivalgoers, creating an ever-changing encounter between the artwork and its audience.

As the festival unfolds, the Silver Dancers are continuously altered by their surroundings. The sculptures become diﬀerent from one moment to the next, shaped by light, movement and human presence playful mirrors of the collective experience of being at a festival.
